What
to Expect

BEFORE THE FIRST SESSION:
There is a lot of information on the Internet
about neurofeedback. I suggest that people do as much research as feels
right to them before coming in. Jim Robbins' book
A Symphony in the Brain is a great background and a fun and easy
read. Dr. Stephen Larsen's book entitled The
Healing Power of Neurofeedback is also good background material
.For more information on specific modalities that we use here, I suggest
consulting the Journal of Neurotherapy.
THE FIRST SESSION (1½-2 hours):
The first session will be a lot of discussion.
You will most likely have many questions, and I will have questions
for you based on your health history. We will then do a short evaluation,
treatment, and discuss the findings. You'll relax in a comfortable chair
and I will monitor brainwaves and assess function using electrodes (sensors)
that I'll move around the head with a mild conductive paste.
THE SECOND SESSION (1½-2 hours):
Each session starts with discussion of
the prior weeks experience, then we move on to evaluation and treatment.
This session will mainly be evaluation and will conclude with a short
treatment.
THE THIRD SESSION (1½-2 hours):
Discussion of progress and the last of
the major evaluations. Discussion of data gathered thus far and plan
for further treatment. Short treatment session.
SUBSEQUENT SESSIONS (1/2 hour, 45 minutes, or 1
hour):
Discussion of progress and treatment.
WHAT YOU MIGHT FEEL:
The effects from neurofeedback
may be immediate or they may come on slowly depending on each individual
Because brain issues
manifest in so many ways, effects from neurofeedback vary with each
individual. We will address whatever you walk in with
headaches,
depression, allergies
Much of what we do in this work is based
on the client's reaction to treatment. Your only responsibility as the
client is to report any and all reactions to treatment. This information
is helpful when we plan future treatments.
